Radio!
RADIO! (this post is like, 2 weeks' due)

Everyone was is chronically afraid of their own voices.

'nuff said.

I finally got a taste to be a DJ. It really isn't easy? To talk without a script is just supes crazy mann, I really blanked out now and then when I was tryin' to record my very first 1-minute of free-talkin'. Patty was awesome, she linked her topics really well. It was so funny when I was gonna record my 'speech', everyone thought I needed time to be alone to think about what I was gonna talk abt, so they promptly went their separate ways just as I held the recorder to my lips. Ironically after they left, I blanked out even more. xD But thankfully Patty stayed behind and I spoke into the recorder as though I was talkin' to her. She kept givin' me slight nods of approval to keep me goin' with my words.

I felt pretty dejected after the first practice, coz my voice was horrible and my accent was even worse. When I used to have fun actin' like a real radion dj back in my workplace, I used to talk freely and pretended to entertain every song 'requests' from my very supportive colleagues. Kat used to say that I've a dj "accent" - I really wonder if it's a good or bad thing, really. But she's very mandarin-ised, so well, she might have mistaken me? But anyways, in order to prevent that funny "accent" that I might have, I kept pushin' my talkin' style 'down', kinda, until I sounded very Singaporean. Like with a Singlish twang. Not that it's a bad thing, but I just sound so darn unnatural in the recordin' that I had goosebumps just listenin' to my own voice. Mr Tan says that it's imperative that we learn to get used to our voices, coz we have to record and listen, record and listen to our voices over and over againnn. His words totally hit home there and then. Like I mentioned above, everyone started squirmin' like supes crazy when Mr Tan played our individual sound clips.

But well, the dejection pretty much ended the followin' week when we had to prepare and record a script abt Akon! Awong writin' and talkin' abt Akon eh! Guess who's swingin' in tha hoodz, yo. xD This time the recordin' was much better, to me, coz I basically let myself loose and read the lines freely. I realised then, the importance of a script to a dj. As Mr Tan says, even the Muttons who are so funny and seemin'ly natural have to base their words on a script. WHOA. Some of my friends who heard my Awong-mix xD had awesome feedback which I hope, I can improve on by this week!

Our next assignment is to draft out another 1-min speech, this time for Lady Gaga. Like WHUT?! I are not knowz siol.

AANDDDD, the winnin' quote from the first radio tutorial (and carries onto the subsequent tutorials xD) goes to *drumrollll...* LYDIA!! xDD

Quote Of The Day, baby:
